Resolution Passed at WPA EGM

An EGM of the Welsh Petanque Association was held in Wenvoe on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 and an amended Resolution of the WPA Exec was passed by members present.

At the start of the meeting, President Dan Murphy confirmed that the requisite number of Clubs and Members had attended and that in accordance with the WPA Constitution, the meeting was quorate.

The Motion, as communicated by the WPA Exec, was proposed by Jean-Yves Robic and seconded by Bernard Adshead.

Following a lengthy discussion from members, Gemma Foster, proposed an amendment, which was seconded by Tansy Mayfield to include the word “Ladies” in point 3 of the original proposal. The amendment was supported by the members present with 23 in favour and 2 abstentions.

The amendment was heard first and supported with 16 in favour, 7 against and 2 abstentions. The Amendment was carried  as follows;

 

That the current “Rules for the FIPJP World Championships & CEP European Championships 2017 Qualification Series” should be amended as follows:

DELETE

A minimum of 8 triples teams, comprising 3 or 4 players in each of the three above competitions is required in order to run a meaningful qualifier. If the minimum number of teams fail to enter the qualification series, then the qualification series will be cancelled and the WPA will NOT enter a team to represent Wales.

ADD

The WPA would ideally like to see a minimum of 8 triples teams, comprising 3 or 4 players in each of the three above competitions, in order to run a meaningful qualifier. In the event that the number of entries is less than the ideal minimum, the WPA Executive shall have discretion to:

  1. continue the complete Series or any part of it: and/or
  2. cancel the complete Series or any part of it: and/or
  3. organise a different ladies qualification Series to replace any part(s) of the Series covered by these Rules which has been cancelled in accordance with b) above.
