The 2007 WPA Presentation evening was held at the Brynhill Golf Club, Barry. As in previous years nearly all the affiliated clubs were represented by the members present. The
winners of the 2007 Division One title are for the second year running
the Monkstone Monarchs, represented by Glyn Attley and Neil Dobbins
of the Monkstone Inn Petanque Club, Cardiff.
The
runners-up of Division One are Abergavenny Petanque Club.
This was their first season in Division 1.
The
winners of the 2007 Division Two title are The Wheatsheaf,
three members of the team were present to receive their awards
from Tony Smith.
The
runners-up of Division Two are Panteg 2 from The Panteg Phoenix Petanque
Club.
The
winners of the 2007 Division Three are the Monkstone Marauders team,
all six members of the team were present to collect their trophy and
medals.
The
runners-up of Division Three are the Isca Romans from
the Caerleon RFC Petanque Club, this was their first season in the
WPA league and must be congratulated on their effort. All the members
of the team were present to receive their medals.
The
winners of the 2007 WPA League Cup are Abergavenny. This is the first
time they have won this title.
The
runners-up are Panteg 2 from the Panteg Phoenix Petanque Club.
The
2007 WPA League Plate winners are the Caerleon Greens from Caerleon
RFC Petanque Club. This is the first time the Caerleon Greens has won
this title. 
The
trophy was not presented on this occasion as it was awarded to the
winning club at the last presentation. The winners of the inaugural
Welsh Cup for Clubs, which was played for the very first time with
teams from The Monkstone, Abergavenny, Panteg and the winners The Wheatsheaf.
The
Stuart Clarke Cup was won by Peter Westall and Phil Bradshaw. Phil
Bradshaw could not attend the presentation.
The
Winners of the Presidents Cup in 2007 were Neil Dobbins (Monkstone)
and Ian Bailey (Abergavenny).
The
2007 National Singles Champion is Steve Brace, who unfortunately was
not able to attend the presentation.
The
runner-up was Kon Tomczyk of Caerleon RFC Petanque Club.
The
National Doubles Champions for 2007 is the reigning Champion Neil
Dobbins from 2006 and Phil Bradshaw, both from the Monkstone
Petanque Club, Cardiff. Phil Bradshaw was not present at the awards
evening.
The
runners-up are Ian and Julie Bailey from Abergavenny PC.
The
2007 National Triples Champions are the reigning Champions Coral Jenkins,
Don Jenkins and with Peter Westall for 2007.
The
runners-up for 2007 are Laurent Mirbelle, David Elston and Tony Smith
from Penarth Petanque Club. Unfortunately David Elston could not be
at the presentation.
The
2007 WPA Junior player of the year is Mathew Howells, unfortunately
he could not be present at the presentation, so Ian Bailey accepted
the award on his behalf. Mathew won the award for his outstanding
efforts in junior competitions
throughout 2007.
Julie
Bailey of Abergavenny Petanque
Club was nominated by the WPA membership and voted for by the WPA Executive
as the Most Improved Player of the Year for her remarkable efforts
and continued improvement during 2007.
Ian
Bailey of Abergavenny Petanque
Club rounded off the season by being nominated by the WPA membership
and voted for by the WPA Executive, Senior Player of the Year for his
support of the sport.
