to the Welsh Pétanque Association (WPA)
The Welsh Pétanque Association is the official governing body for the sport of Pétanque in Wales, which is often referred to as Boule.
The WPA is a member of key bodies, including the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP), the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque (CEP), and the Fédération Mondiale Boules & Pétanque (FMBP), which the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognises.
We are proud Welsh Sports Association (WSA) members and work closely with Disability Sport Wales, an integral part of Sport Wales.
At the WPA, our mission is to grow and promote the sport across Wales, ensuring it is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, faith, politics, sexuality, or ability. Pétanque is a uniquely inclusive sport where players of all backgrounds and skill levels can compete equally.
More than just a game, Pétanque brings people together. Whether playing casually or participating in one of our national competitions, you’ll find a friendly, welcoming, and supportive environment. Above all, our goal is simple: to help more people discover the joy of Pétanque.
Welsh Pétanque clubs currently tend to be concentrated in the South Wales area. If a club is near you, they will only be too happy to get you started playing the sport. If there is no club nearby, perhaps you might like to create one; the WPA can provide help and advice.
