The Welsh Pétanque Association (WPA) is the governing body for the sport of Pétanque, or commonly called Boule in Wales. The WPA is affiliated to the FIPJP (Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal), the World governing body of the sport and also the European governing body, the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque, CEP.
The WPA aims to promote the development of the sport for all people in Wales - irrespective of age, gender, race, ethnicity, faith, politics, sexuality or disability. Few sports offer such a good opportunity for a wide range of people to play equally against one another. It is also a very sociable game: even the major competitions organised in Wales have a friendly and encouraging atmosphere - above all, we want people to enjoy the game.
Welsh Pétanque clubs currently tend to be concentrated in the South Wales area. If there is a club near you, then they will only be too happy to get you started playing the sport. If there isn't a club close by, then perhaps you might like to start one, the WPA can provide you with help and advice. To see if there is a club near you, access the Welsh Boule Clubs page.
If you are interested in joining the Welsh Pétanque Association you can find out more information on the WPA Membership page.
If your club is intending to hold a competition and you would like it advertised here, then follow this link to complete our on-line form with all the events details.
