The WPA is saddened to hear of the passing of JPR Williams. His exploits and success on the rugby field are legendary and have been reflected upon since the announcement of his passing on January 8, 2024.
However, many people do not know that he also played Petanque for his local village, Ystradowen, in recent years, which he enjoyed. He got to play with many neighbours and his son-in-law, Dan Caunt.
As expected, John was a naturally fierce competitor when playing in the Cup or League. His team always enjoyed seeing the opposition’s faces when they realised JPR was lining up against them!
The membership of the WPA sends our heartfelt condolences to JPR’s family at this challenging time.
