Peter Westall Cup – Results

The Peter Westall Cup took place in near perfect weather conditions at the Monkstone PC. Eighteen teams competed for the title, which included one junior player, Jack Harris, from Caerleon RFC PC, who teamed up with his father Richard.

There was a good mix of players representing the following pétanque clubs Cardiff Harlequins PC, Caerleon RFC PC, Monkstone PC, Pontyclun PC, SWBRC-PS, Ystradowen PC, together with several of our unaffiliated members and non-members.

A more competitive competition than the Novice Cup played the day before, but the games were again played in relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

After three rounds in the morning the teams were ranked as detailed below:

Two teams were tied for the 8th position, so Darren & Didier and Ian & Ashley played one end to determine which played in the gold competition. Ian & Ashly won the end.

 Gold – Peter Westall Cup.

The final between Ian Bailey & Len Field (SWBRC-PS) and John Attfield & Stewart Spencer (Pontyclun PC) displayed some excellent pointing and shooting from both teams. However, John and Stewart took control of the game and left their opposition behind and took the game and title 13/4.

Congratulations to both teams and their efforts during the day.
