Three Welsh teams through to the final of the over 50’s series

Congratulations to the three Welsh based teams that have successfully qualified for this year’s Classic Petanque Over 50’s series final which is being held next Sunday at Leicester Petanque Club. The series, running for a number of years, offers an opportunity for players to take on some of the best UK veteran players. All the players, belonging to Vale PC and Monkstone PC, have been committed to the series – having travelled significant distances (Gravesend, Rainworth, Cambridge and Royal Wootton Bassett) to take on a range of venues and challenging pistes.

Not even an attempt to lock them in the night before at Ben’s Yard, based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, could keep them at bay with two teams winning 5 out of 5 at last week’s final leg.

Throughout the series all the teams have done brilliantly however special mention to Team Field – Len Field, Roger Green, Ian and Julie Bailey – who have regularly been one of the top teams at each of the individual legs. Team Mack (Didier Mack, Joe Dubbs, Darren Hardwicke and Dan Rawlings) and Team Smith (Sean Smith, JY Robic, Tony Smith and Steve Love) will be joining them in what will be a very competitive final.

Our thanks go to Martin Inglis and Hilary Kidd who have done a fantastic job in organising this year’s series. Good luck to everyone heading to Leicester PC next Sunday.
