New Qualification System and Team Announcement for 2026 World Championship Triples: Men

At the FIPJP Congress held immediately before the World Championship Triples: Men in Dijon, France (November 2024), an update to the qualification system for future World Championships was announced.

Updated Qualification System

From now on, the top 24 nations after the five qualifying rounds of the Swiss System at each World Championship will automatically qualify for the next edition.

As a result, the 24 nations that placed highest during the Dijon event have already secured their qualification for the 2026 World Championship Triples: Men, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

European Nations Qualified Automatically

Out of 40 European nations, 12 have earned automatic qualification for 2026:

  • Belgium
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Monaco
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Türkiye

European Qualification Tournament

The remaining 28 European nations will now compete for the final nine qualification spots at a special qualifying competition to be held in Luxembourg at the end of November.

Participating nations:

The following European nations are eligible to register for the qualifying competition. However, it is envisaged that not all will.

Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Greece, Guernsey, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Jersey, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Wales.

WPA Team Announcement

The WPA Executive has confirmed that a team will represent the association at the Luxembourg qualifier, competing for one of the nine remaining places for the Kuala Lumpur 2026 event.
