The League Cup Competition runs parallel to the National League competition and adds another dimension to the playing season. Teams playing in the National League do not have to play in the League Cup, but are encouraged to do so.
All 26 teams that entered the League in 2026 also entered the League Cup/Plate Competition.
The League Cup/Plate, which has been played in a mini-league format for the last 7 years reverts to a knockout format. This year there will be a Preliminary Elimination Round of 10 matches (teams drawn at random) to reduce the number of teams to 16. There will then be a new draw of the remaining 16 who will play 8 matches (Round 1) and the 8 winners will go into the Cup competition whilst the 8 losers will go into the Plate Competition. This will be followed by quarter finals (Round 2) in each competition. The semi final and final rounds of each competition will be played on Finals Day at a neutral venue.
The draw for the Preliminary Round of the 2026 League Cup/Plate was made at the Monkstone Open Doubles Sunday 12 April 2026.
