Vale Pétanque Club Set for European Cup Challenge

The 2026 Welsh Cup Champions, Vale Pétanque Club, are preparing to fly the flag for Wales on the European stage when they represent the Welsh Pétanque Association at the 28th European Cup in France.

The competition will again take place at the Boulodrome du Douaisis in Sin-le-Noble from 5th to 8th November 2026, bringing together club champions from over 30 member federations for what promises to be four days of high-quality international pétanque.

The Vale PC will travel to France with an eight-player squad comprising Julie Bailey, Amiee Vaughan, Ian Bailey, Garry Griffith, Cai Jones, David Paine, Jean-Yves Robic and Sean Smith, with Didier Mack taking on the role of Team Manager for the first time.

Having earned the right to represent Wales by becoming 2026 Welsh Cup Champions for the second consecutive year, the Vale can expect a demanding challenge as they face some of Europe’s strongest club sides.

However, competing in Europe is not unfamiliar territory for the Welsh champions. This will not be Vale’s first appearance in the European Cup, and that previous experience should prove invaluable. The players know the standard of competition they will face, the concentration required and the importance of performing consistently throughout the event.

Representing Wales at this level is a significant achievement not only for Vale Pétanque Club but also for Welsh pétanque. It gives Welsh players another opportunity to compete on the international stage and demonstrate the sport’s continued development in Wales.

The challenge will undoubtedly be tough, but the Vale PC will travel to Sin-le-Noble with experience, determination and the knowledge that they have earned their place among Europe’s club champions.

The Welsh Pétanque Association wishes Julie, Amiee, Ian, Garry, Cai, David, Jean-Yves, Sean and Team Manager Didier every success in their final preparations and throughout the competition.

Good luck, Vale – fly the flag for Wales!
