2026 Home Nations

The Welsh Petanque Association hosted the 25th edition of the Home Nations Championship at Stirling Petanque Club over the weekend of the 8th/9th of August.

The first Home Nations Championship was hosted here in Wales in 2000 at the then Millennium Stadium in the heart of Cardiff. In the intervening years, each country has taken turns hosting the event, and it remains as competitive as it was in 2000.

Over the two days, 192 games were played between the four nations to claim the title.

Please be aware that Radio 2 has announced a major event in Stirling over the same weekend. This is going to put pressure on the available accommodation in the surrounding area, which is already disappearing fast.

The SPA have produced the following accommodation list to assist:

  • The Highland Gate, FK9 4UA
  • King Street Aparthotel, FK8 1DN
  • Terraces Hotel, FK8 2ND
  • Holiday Inn Express, FK7 7XH
  • Premier Inn Falkirk North, FK2 8PJ
  • Premier Inn, Stirling South, FK7 8EX
  • The Grange Manor Hotel, FK3 8XJ
  • Park Hotel,  Falkirk, FK1 5RY
  • Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre G1 2RN
  • Premier Inn Glasgow City South G5 0TW
  • Various properties on Airbnb
  • Stirling University Venues  –  apartments, rooms and chalets

On the bright side, it has been confirmed that there will be plenty of car parking.

The qualifier for the Home Nations is scheduled over the weekend of 30th/31st May 2026 at the Vale Petanque Club. To book in your team, click the button below.

History of the Home Nations

The first Home Nations Championship was held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in 2000. Pétanque England, formally the English Pétanque Association, won the inaugural championship and successfully defended its title annually. However, in 2024, Petanque Jersey took the title for the first time.
