The Vale Petanque Club have informed us of the sad news of the passing of Brian Spooner on Sunday, 31st May.

Brian, a long-standing WPA member and, with his wife, Jenny, a founder member of Penarth Petanque Club, has held many positions on the club’s committee. When the club moved to Sully, he was there again, assisting in getting the club up and running and supporting the Vale’s move to Wenvoe.

He also played regularly in the league for his club and many club-based competitions over the years.

However, in recent years, health issues have prevented him from playing as much as he would have liked.

On behalf of the Membership, we express our deepest sympathies to Jenny and her family at this difficult time.
