Hot on the heels of the recent World Championships for Singles (Men and Women), Doubles (Men and Women), and Mixed Doubles in Rome, the women’s squad is about to travel to Douai, France, to participate in the 20th World Championship Triples: Women and the 13th World Championship Precision Shooting: Women, from 09 to 12 October.

A total of 43 federations from around the world have registered for what promises to be an exciting and highly competitive championship.

Wales Sends a Full Squad

The Welsh Pétanque Association (WPA) is proud to announce that a full squad of 4 players will represent Wales in the championship. The team includes both experienced international competitors and newcomers making their World Championship debut.

Team Wales 2025

  • Tansy Mayfield (Caerleon RFC PC)
  • Kym Jeffreys (Twyn-y-Frwd PC)
  • Jayne Dunn (Monkstone PC)
  • Barbara Vaughan (Caerleon RFC PC)

Experience and New Talent

Both Tansy Mayfield and Barbara Vaughan (late team change) previously represented Wales at the World and European Championships. Jayne Dunn has previously represented Wales at the European Championship Triples: Women.

Meanwhile, Kym Jeffrey will be making her first-ever World Championship appearance. For Kym, this event offers not only a challenge but also an opportunity to experience the excitement of competing at the highest level of pétanque.

The National Coach Jean-Yves Robic will be supporting the players.

A Continuing Journey for Wales

Wales first competed at a Women’s World Championship in Thailand in 2009 and has since made a consistent effort to take part in subsequent global tournaments. Their presence in Douai maintains Wales’ profile of Welsh women’s pétanque on the world stage.
