NEIL ‘WALLY’ WILKINSON (1949-2025)

With great sadness, we have to announce the news of the passing of a cherished Caerleon RFC Pétanque Club member, Neil ‘Wally’ Wilkinson, who passed away on Tuesday, 15 July. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Wally was a keen pétanque player and a member of the WPA for 18 years since the club was formed. He was a regular league player in both the WPA and Gwent Leagues. He represented Wales in the Home Nations, Celtic Challenge, and PES Inter–Regional Championships on numerous occasions, a proud wearer of the Welsh shirt.

Wally was also a former Caerleon RFC player, RFC Club Chairman, and Darts team player. He was also a significant part of the club’s DIY team, working tirelessly in and around the clubhouse to contribute to the maintenance of the playing surface and surrounding area.

Wally was genuinely loved and respected by all who knew him and will be remembered by many in the WPA and especially as a member of Caerleon RFC Pétanque Club.

On behalf of the WPA, our hearts and thoughts are with Carol, Rob, Huw and all Wally’s family at this difficult time. We also extend our deepest sympathies to everyone at the Caerleon RFC Pétanque Club, where Wally will always hold a special place in their memories.
