The second meeting of the club presidents and secretaries took place at Monkstone PC on Tuesday, 16th June. Eleven clubs were represented either by the club’s President/Chair, Secretary, or, in a few cases, by both.

Tony Smith (President), in his report, discussed recent issues concerning:

• Playing Kit at WPA closed events.
• The recent vote taken by League Members concerning the resolution of the League Cup.
• New lines of communication between Members and the Management Committee.
• Succession Planning.

It was announced under Succession Planning that, in addition to Tony Smith and Jean-Yves Robic standing down at the next AGM, Rob Glaves will not be seeking re-election, and Vickie Adshead will stand down as League Secretary at the end of this league season.

Jean-Yves Robic (Treasurer) gave a financial update to the clubs present, discussed competition entry fees, and proposed that the new MC should consider increasing the Qualifiers and Open entrance fees in 2027.

Sean Smith (Secretary) gave a brief overview of the association’s activities to date.

Bernard Adshead (Membership Secretary) provided an update on the current membership standing at 470. He also updated the meeting on the Membership software and Constant Contact.  

Bernard went on to give a report on behalf of Vickie Adshead (League Secretary) regarding the current status of the 2026 League and League Cup & Plate. Bernard also explained the issue that prevented the use of the League Software, which was unfortunate.

Finally, Jean-Yves Robic (National Coach) discussed the selection process that had taken place and confirmed the following squads for the championships in 2026:

• European Championship Women: Triples – Aimee Vaughan, Tansy Mayfield, Kym Jeffrey and Jayne Dunn.

 A provisional selection of the Men’s teams has been made and will be confirmed in 2027 by the new National Coach and Management Committee:

• European Championship Veterans: Triples – Garry Griffiths, Marcus Chapman and Len Field.
• European Championship Veterans: Men – Andy Rios-Hall, Cai Jones, David Payne and Elijah Jeffers.

The meeting was then opened to the club delegates present.

The meeting closed at 20:55.
