The Welsh Petanque Association has achieved the Ribbon level of the “insport” Club programme from Disability Sport Wales, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity in sport. This milestone marks the association’s dedication to creating a welcoming environment for participants of all abilities. The “insport” programme encourages organisations to develop inclusive practices, with Ribbon as an entry-level recognition. It requires clubs to meet governance standards, collect members’ needs information, and promote inclusion in their activities.
Following this success, the Welsh Petanque Association aims to progress to the Bronze level by the end of 2025. Achieving Bronze involves enhanced commitments, such as expanding on inclusivity measures, workforce development, and communication processes to ensure accessibility and equality in all facets of its operations.
This achievement aligns with Disability Sport Wales’s mission to promote lifelong enjoyment of sport for everyone and its broader vision of creating a more inclusive sporting nation.
